eBay GPSR Compliance and EU Responsible Person Service

As of 12 September 2026, eBay collects this data in a listing's Item disclosures section: a Product manufacturer, and an EU responsible person where the manufacturer is not established in the EU or Northern Ireland. Listings without it may not be visible or purchasable to buyers in the EU and Northern Ireland. Grüner Baum GmbH reviews the product, Article 16 route, records and Article 19 offer data before accepting a mandate.

Updated 12 September 2026: eBay's Item disclosures fields, the five-contact limit and the bulk-edit path were rechecked on eBay's own pages.

Can Grüner Baum GmbH act as my eBay EU Responsible Person?

Grüner Baum GmbH can accept a written authorised-representative mandate for defined products when that Article 16 route fits the manufacturer and supply chain. Acceptance follows a product-scope and document review; an EU importer or another responsible economic operator may already occupy the required role. Grüner Baum is not part of an eBay partner programme and does not control how eBay displays, validates or enforces the data.

Which GPSR fields does an eBay listing need?

In the Item disclosures section eBay asks for a Product manufacturer with a name plus postal and email address and, where the manufacturer is not established in the EU or Northern Ireland, an EU responsible person with the same contact set. eBay allows up to five EU responsible persons. That field set matches GPSR Article 16(3): name or registered trade name or trademark, postal address and electronic address. A covered offer must also identify the product with a picture, the type and another identifier, and show applicable warnings or safety information in an understandable language.

How much does an eBay EU Responsible Person service cost?

Grüner Baum GmbH's annual service starts at €249 plus VAT for one low-risk product family with unlimited SKUs. Product risk, special EU legislation, technical-document quality and portfolio scope can change the price; high-risk or specially regulated products receive an individual quote after review.

Does eBay provide an EU Responsible Person service?

No. eBay collects and displays the data but does not take the Article 16 role. eBay's own guidance tells sellers to obtain the responsible person's name and contact details from the manufacturer or upstream supplier, or to appoint an EU subsidiary, importer or fulfilment service provider where that is possible. Filling the field is a listing step, not a legal appointment.

Why does eBay allow up to five EU responsible persons on a listing?

A listing can cover products whose Article 16 operator differs, for example a multi-variation listing sourced from more than one manufacturer. eBay therefore accepts more than one contact. It does not mean a single product needs several responsible persons, and it does not make any of the listed contacts responsible for a product outside their written mandate.

What happens to an eBay listing without the GPSR data?

eBay states that affected listings may not be visible or purchasable to buyers in the EU and Northern Ireland. That is a platform visibility consequence, not a statutory penalty; the separate legal duties under Regulation (EU) 2023/988 apply regardless of how a marketplace displays a listing.

What does Grüner Baum review before accepting an eBay mandate?

Grüner Baum GmbH reviews the product, manufacturer, EU supply chain and available safety records before accepting an eBay GPSR Responsible Person mandate. The review determines whether a written authorised-representative mandate is the correct Article 16 route and which products it can cover.

Labels, warnings and target languagesPhysical information and the eBay listing must refer to the same product and target market, and warnings must be understandable in the destination language. The information required on the product, packaging and online offer.

Acceptance is not automatic. Grüner Baum GmbH does not issue a GPSR certificate and does not guarantee eBay, customs or authority approval; we are not part of an eBay partner programme and cannot influence how eBay validates or enforces a listing. Filling an eBay field cannot make a product compliant — the manufacturer remains responsible for product safety and for the accuracy of the records supplied.
